Dangerous goods at check-in & boarding
Any article/substance or equipment which could endanger the safe trouble-free operation of aircraft and the well-being of passenger and crew is not permitted to travel on a passenger aircraft.
- There are possible "hidden dangerous goods" that are not apparent but may contain dangerous substances.
- The Check-in agent is required to ask additional questions on items such as:
a) Automobile parts
b) Breathing apparatus- .may include cylinders of compressed gas or dangerous goods
c) Cylinders - may contain compressed gas
d) Dental apparatus
e) Diving Equipment- may contain high intensity diving lamps, which can contain extremely high heat once in the air (the bulb and battery must be disconnected)
f) Drilling and mining equipment that may contain explosives
g) Electric equipment- may contain powered apparatus i.e., lawn mowers, wheelchair etc.
h) Laboratory testing equipment
i) Pharmaceutical- may contain dangerous chemicals
j) Machinery parts- may include adhesives/paints/sealant/solvents or dangerous goods.
k) Tool boxes- may contain restricted items
l) Toys- may be made of flammable materials
m) These items must at least be packaged to prevent leakage during transportation. This may include brine/powdered or liquid dyes/pickled foodstuffs etc.
All this "Hidden Dangerous Goods" should be declared by the customer at the Check-In desk before boarding the aircraft.
